An Introduction to Osteopathy in the Cranial Field (1 DVD)
Reformatted from the 1996 video
Helen Emilie Jackson D.O. graduated from Kirksville in 1939 and spent a lifetime in the study and practice of Osteopathy. Together with her husband Philip Jackson, she was one of the earliest members of the Osteopathic Institute of Allied Technique (the forerunner to the ICO) in the 1950’s
Greatly influenced by Beryl Arbuckle, D.O. of Philadelphia, who was an early student of Sutherland, Mrs Jackson spent more than 40 years exploring the potential of cranial technique

Classical Osteopathy Articles, Lectures and Papers by Mervyn Waldman
Compiled by Alex Milne
As a result of the increasing interest shown by students and graduates in the subject of classical osteopathy, the Institute thought it timely to publish this collection of articles and lecture that I have written over the past thirty years and more. They were composed in the attempt to clarify the principles of the osteopathy practiced by the founders of the profession, more often than not in the face of epidemic disease, profound injury and disability.

…..The basic principle of osteopathy has been described in many different ways but may simply be stated as the belief that the functioning and health of the body depend on its structural, mechanical and postural state. If we truly accept this idea, we are no longer concerned with the problem of whether a particular condition or patient should be treated osteopathically as every case can be treated in accordance with this principle…..

…..It is said that the final test of any therapy is at the bedside of the acutely ill patient. The treatment of acute disease in the infant or child adds an element of responsibility and skill over and above that required for the adult. Palpatory and diagnostic skills are often stretched to their limit….. However, all too often in the critical case one must rely, when at the bedside, almost entirely on detecting arrhythmicity and points of soft and hard tissue resistance…..

…..Nearly all of the articles in this book are based on lectures and demonstrations given by him in the late 1950’s and 60’s. He was an entertaining and knowledgeable speaker, although somewhat prone to straying from the subject. Many of his anecdotes and asides have been included in the articles and they help to give a hint of his unique style of presentation…..

The Classical Osteopathic Treatment Of The Infant And Child (3DVDs)
This publication consists of a series of formal lectures delivered at Denbies Vineyard in 2010
They feature the principles of the treatment of the young infant and child from the classical perspective presented by Mervyn Waldman and Chris Batten
The lectures are illustrated with slides and some treatment footage to demonstrate this unique osteopathic approach
The final disc contains additional treatments of the child patient and clearly shows some of the challenges and considerations required when working with this patient group.
Many differing classical techniques are demonstrated, complementing other publications produced by the ICO

T.E. Hall was regarded by his contemporaries as being one of the most accomplished osteopathic technicians of his time
This archive footage helps demonstrate some of the important diagnostic and treatment techniques that he employed in his teaching and practicing life
For Hall the art of Osteopathy demanded a thorough knowledge of the physiological movements of the spine, a high degree of diagnostic and palpatory skills and the technical ability to deal with the underlying conditions, this film clearly demonstrates these points.
Another lifelong friend and colleague was John Wernham who was a Co-founder of the Institute. Their friendship extended to the production of this footage and they both appear together in this film shot in the 1950's in black & white
